CDR Data Analyst training offers the practicing crash reconstructionist who has successfully completed the CDR Technician course further insight into the function of the automobile Event Data Recorder (EDR) function or subcomponent. The history and evolution of the EDR is discussed as are expanded interpretation skills, thus allowing the application of a Bosch Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) System report to a situationally complete crash reconstruction.
Using traditional reconstruction techniques such as momentum applications, an understanding of delta-v and PDOF and typical admissibility hearing issues are the general basis for the course objectives.
CDR Data Analyst is both a natural extension of the CDR Technician training and an expansion of one's reconstruction skills. There is no "downloading" activity in this class because it is assumed that those in attendance understand that process along with the underlying concepts of data storage in the EDR subcomponent, CDR software troubleshooting and related error messages and their solution(s). There is no need to bring a complete CDR System to this course.
This course is the longest standing industry standard training program for Bosch CDR Data Analyst Certification.
About the Instructor
CDR Data Analyst training is presented by lead instructor W.R. "Rusty" Haight of the Collision Safety Institute. He is an internationally recognized expert in the use of the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval System and has long experience in the use of CDR data and in teaching these skills to others.
Who Should Attend
This course is best suited for police crash reconstructionists, engineers, insurance investigators and adjusters and those involved in vehicle documentation and examinations who desire to have the most in-depth knowledge and expertise available in this field.
Previous experience in understanding the capabilities of Event Data Recorders and the Bosch Crash Data Retrieval system is required.
Successful completion of CRD Technician Level 1 is required and successful completion of CRD Technician Level 2 is recommended (CDR Technician if taken prior to 2011). Successful completion of Traffic Crash Reconstruction 1 is also strongly recommended.
For on-campus classes, all students need to bring a laptop computer (or other device) with a USB port(s) and Adobe Reader installed to the class. Student reference materials will be distributed in USB flash drives (files will accept electronic comments and highlighting and can be saved). A limited number of netbook computers will be available during the class for those students who cannot bring devices with them.
